That means many of my fellow writer buddies are worried sick about losing their jobs. Indeed, no one will say, &#8220;We laid people off because we could replace them with <a href=\"https:\/\/openai.com\/blog\/chatgpt-plus\">ChatGPT for $20 a month.<\/a>&#8220;<\/p>\n<p>But <a href=\"https:\/\/futurism.com\/cnet-layoffs-gutted-news-video\">that&#8217;s actually already happening<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m concerned about this, too \u2014 but I&#8217;m not yet sweating bullets over it.<\/p>\n<p>Why? Because, as of now, ChatGPT does a crappy job of writing non-fiction. That isn&#8217;t stopping publishers from using it, of course. But readers are beginning to notice something is amiss, complaining that the &#8220;how to&#8221; story they just read turned into a &#8220;how not to&#8221; tale or that one AI-generated piece reported one of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theregister.com\/2023\/03\/02\/chatgpt_considered_harmful\/\">people quoted in it is dead \u2014 when they&#8217;re still very much alive<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"jumpTag\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.computerworld.com\/article\/3690273\/generative-ai-isnt-the-answer-to-all-your-business-needs.html#jump\">To read this article in full, please click here<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m a writer.
